Kings Heath Community Basketball
Capturing the community spirit
THE BRIEF
Kings Heath Community Basketball Club wanted to shake things up. Their social media wasn’t doing them justice; the energy on court and the sense of community off it just weren’t coming through online. They needed a consistent visual identity, better storytelling, and a proper digital home that reflected what the club’s really about: passion, inclusivity, and bringing people together through sport.
Over the past two years, I’ve been their social media manager, photographer, and designer, taking charge of everything from game-day coverage to website design and event marketing. Most recently, I led the creative direction for their biggest project yet: Basketball in the Park, a full-day community event combining sport, art, and local culture.
THE VISION
The goal was simple: make Kings Heath Basketball look and feel as alive online as it does in person.
That meant ditching anything overly polished or corporate and focusing on real moments, the sweat, the celebration, the grit. My photography and social content aimed to capture that energy and give followers a genuine sense of what it’s like to be part of the club.
Design-wise, I built a bold, street-inspired visual style that mixed basketball culture with local art influences, graffiti textures, punchy colours, and type that moves with energy. The same look ran through everything from social graphics to posters and web design, giving the club one clear, confident voice.
For Basketball in the Park, I created a campaign that matched the vibe of the event: grassroots, creative, and full of character. The visuals pulled together sport, music, and community, with hand-drawn elements, bold branding, and an emphasis on fun.

THE RESULTS
In two years, the club’s social channels have gone from quiet to thriving. Engagement has grown massively, not just in likes and follows, but in real-world impact. More players turning up. More people talking about the club. More sponsors getting involved.
The new website gave them a proper platform, professional, easy to update, and packed with great photography that actually tells their story.
Basketball in the Park was a huge success. The event brought together local players, artists, and families, with coverage that stood out across social feeds. The branding helped cement Kings Heath Basketball as more than a club, it’s now a creative, community-led brand that represents what Birmingham basketball’s all about.
The result? A bold, consistent identity across every channel, and a club that finally looks as good online as it feels on the court.
