Beach Photoshoot
A story of connection on the Cornish coast
THE BRIEF
Capture the bond between the model and her dog. The photos should feel candid, natural and intimate. They should be focused on connection, joy and shared moments rather than feeling overly posed. Documentary style with a range of compositions including close-ups and wide environmental shots.
THE VISION
Use a documentary style to capture the natural moments between the two. Keep them moving and embrace for imperfections (sandy fur, windblown hair etc.) to ensure the photos feel dynamic and candid.
Choose a day with soft natural sunlight diffused by cloud cover for a calm, grounded feel. Incorporate warm, earthy colours in wardrobe to create cohesive feel with surroundings whilst bringing an autumnal warm into the images that contrasts the background.
Photos should be taken at eye level with the dog to create sense of intimacy, with occasional top-down or side profiles that emphasise the connection between the two.

THE RESULTS
Despite blustery weather and rolling waves, the soft coastal light created the perfect setting for a natural, documentary-style session.
The colour palette of earthy browns, creams and soft sea blues kept the images warm and grounded, a feeling that informed the editing choices. The black and white edits added timeless emotion and depth which contributed to the personal feel of the gallery.
The combination of close-up details and wider environmental shots created a balanced narrative, showing both the intimacy of their bond and the beauty of the surroundings.
The final gallery tells a complete story: joyful, raw and deeply human. Each image was intended at capturing the texture of the day; the sand, the salt, the wind. This grounded the scenes of small, unguarded moments that make relationships between people and their dogs so special.
